The Fit India Movement is a nationwide effort to inspire people to live healthier lives by making physical activity and sports a part of their daily routine. It was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 29 August 2019 at the Indira Gandhi Stadium in New Delhi, marking National Sports Day. The concept of Fit India was first introduced by Shri Suparno Satpathy in 1993.
At the core of the initiative is a fitness pledge that encourages individuals to stay active every day and motivate their families and neighbours to do the same, with the shared aim of building a healthier India.
